As of May 2006, ATRI has become a regular, bi-monthly feature of the Dave Nemo Show on XM Satellite Radio. The sessions, designed to discuss the approach and findings of different ATRI research initiatives, as well as how they impact truck drivers and motor carrier operations, air on Open Road Channel 171 every other Thursday at 8 a.m. Central Standard Time.

ATRI’s Vice President Daniel Murray moderates each session’s topics and introduces researchers and presenters. During the second portion of the program, ATRI and the Nemo Show open the discussion to call-in questions and comments from listeners.

April 17 – Snow and Ice

Yes, Spring is on the way, but it’s been a tough winter and snow and ice accumulation on the top of trailers (and then blowing off) continues to get attention. ATRI is working to identify solutions to the safety issues surrounding the build up of snow and ice on trucks and we’ll be asking Dave Nemo Show listeners for their experiences and their suggestions for dealing with this issue. This show will be hosted by Rebecca Brewster.

May 1 – Speed Impacts on Safety

ATRI is nearing the release of its comprehensive study on the impact of speed on safety. Hear new data and findings on the use of speed limiters, speed differentials and posted speed limits. This show will be hosted by Dan Murray.

May 15 – Training Impacts on Safety

ATRI’s soon-to-be-released study is one of the first studies to compare and contrast driver safety outcomes of different driver training approaches and curriculum. Given the current FMCSA rulemaking on new entrant driver training, these research findings are certain to generate discussion. This show will be hosted by Rebecca Brewster.
